About the Site
To all,
The man in the picture above is one of the most dedicated sports fans in the history of the world. He is my father, Jim ‘Jimbo’ Nixon. A longtime season ticket holder of the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Arizona State Football, it is safe to say his favorite hobby in life is consuming sports. Minus the glorious title-run of the 2001 Diamondbacks, my father’s experiences epitomize those of your typical Arizona sports fan: BATTERED.
My father has always used the officials/referees/umpires as a sounding board for his thoughts and opinions. This blog will be mine.
More than anything, this blog is an opportunity for me to sit down and grow as a writer as well as a sports fan. There is something strangely liberating about pumping out your unfiltered thoughts about an industry you so passionately follow. My opinions, thoughts, and cries for change are not meant to offend anybody, but are only meant as entertainment for my readers. I hope you enjoy!
Cheers,
Michael G. Nixon

Mike, you have come a long way since Pop Warner Football!!! Cary and I still talk about your remarkable athletic abilities,. Seems you have literary ability, also. And, I remember your Dad well. Those Pop Warner refs and
coaches ears are probably still ringing, from your Dad’s great comments!
I like your site. Dr. Ken Cole and Cary Cole
My Dad reads your blog every day! I think The Battered Fan has officially substituted in for Solitaire as his #1 method of procrastination. At least he’s reading well written material. Kudos to you!
Although I don’t feel quite as battered as the average Phoenician, I do relate to your site. Keep up the great work!
Mike,
Nancy & I are looking forward to following your blog.
We wish all the best in your future career,
Nancy & Rich Wilson
I love this, from the Chargers and Padres to the Cardinals, Suns and D-Backs I feel like a very battered fan. I have 1 championship under my belt as a sports fan in my 29 years (01 WS D-backs). And a few more before I buy the farm would be nice or at least pretend like you’re trying(Padres & Suns). Good work Nix, I look forward to following your writting.
